THINGS YOU DIDN’T NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ME

by Corinne on March 21, 2008

What is a meme?

I have been tagged by Robert at http://www.reason4smile.com to write an article on 7 things that you may not know about me and then “tag” another blogger.  It is called a meme and it sounds like fun – so here we go -

A meme is almost like a progressive dinner because each of us chooses another blogger and brings them to the table.  He chose me.  It was a wonderful surprise and he said great things about my blog and even gave me an award. Now nice is that?

It sounded like fun so – so here is more than you ever needed to know about me.

1.  I am a life coach and I pride myself in knowing a lot about business and people, mainly because I have made so many mistakes myself in the past.  OK, and some lucky successes!

That’s how I became a blogger.

A client was recommended to me who is a blogger.  WHAT?  I was not sure what a blogger was so you can imagine my embarrassment.  I didn’t know where to start with her.

Fortunately, in our first session, she told me she was booked for a radio interview and the interviewer had asked her to supply the questions.  The questions she had prepared would have been way over the head of most people so I said, “Let me do the questions for you.”  That was my introduction to blogging.

I started with, “What is a blog?” – “How is it different from a webpage?” – “How do you start a blog?”And on and on.  Simple, basic questions that the completely uninformed person like me would want to know.  At the end of the interview, I knew something about becoming a beginning blogger

I said “Hey! I can do that!”  You’ve been stuck with me from that time on.

It wasn’t quite as easy as I thought.  A techie I am not.  Fortunately Michelle Vandepas from http:///www.divinepurposeunleashed.com bails me out when I get in trouble on my blog or mess something up.  Which is a lot of the time.  I could not survive without her.

2.  I have been a widow for years.  Yes, I have had relationships along the way but it does not look like it is in the cards for another marriage in this lifetime. (Unless you know someone?)

3.  I am a writer.  I have had three books published.  They are still listed on Amazon but are out of print.  I guess it is time for me to get busy and write a new one.

4. I am a speed reader and I don’t know how that happened.  Never took one of those courses.

Perhaps because I have been an avid reader since the first grade. I never went to kindergarten.  The nuns taught me to read in two weeks.

5.  At ten, I was finally eligible for my own library card.  I arrived before they opened the doors that day.

AWhere are the AA=s?@ I asked.  The surprised librarian at the huge Brooklyn Public Library inquired why I wanted to know.

ABecause I am going to read every book in this library!”

6.  I am a very pretty cook.  My kids keep trying to take holidays away from me and until now I have resisted.  My son and daughter-in-law are doing some holidays this year.  We’ll see if I don’t drive them too crazy.

7.  The thing I love to do besides read is writing for my blog.  I especially enjoy the comments that come in.  Blogging is like a small town.  You start to make friends.  From all over the world.  I especially love it when my commentators talk to each other.

I have many other secrets but this is enough already!  I will tell you more when we know each other better!

Some of my favorite blogs that I read often are -

I enjoyed hearing about you, Corinne. Loved the library story: “Because I’m going to read every book in this library!” I can relate, although the library where I grew up was so small it would have been a weekend project. So I read the World Book Encyclopedia instead. I know, I was a geek.

So, where are the next 50 things that I don’t need to know but would enjoy hearing about? :-)

Hi Corinne,
thanks for sharing with us more about you, the point how you’re so keen on reading all the books in the library is very interesting =).

Hi Corinne, Since when do you have time to cook? Come on down my way anytime. I can make a mean martini or margaritas with chips and salsa.. between us we could have a meal!

Hi Michelle -

I cook dinner every day. Just for me. Probably because I like to eat.

Bring on the martinis and the margaritas and the chips and salsa.

Welcome additions as I watch the news on TV before dinner!

Dear Tom -

If you want to know a trillion things about me, go to Amazon and buy my memoir, Reflections from a Woman Alone.

IT WILL COST YOU ONE CENT!

(My daughter-in law’s comment was “HOW RUDE!”)

C’mon Corinne, Tell a a really juicy one!!!! If there is one.
You bloggers are having so much fun!! I really think it is like passing notes in grade school!! I can tell others a secret about you … for your tiny little body, you have the biggest and most beautiful heart of any person I have ever met. And you also have my heart!! One of your other great secrets is how much you love laughter and your priceless wit. Wit takes such superior intelligence. We have laughed until we cried over your witty remarks…. Oh, I wish I had taped some of our conversations … Now I see why you won’t run for president. OH man, would I love to see you in the White House.

Dear Grace -

Saving all the juicy bits for later. Don’t want to turn people off after only eight months of blogging!

- Or, maybe for my new book. Yeah, I know. When?

Thanks for all the nice things you say about me. Mostly untrue, but still wonderful to hear.

I cannot run for Prsident because I am afraid you have secretly taped some of our conversations! I don’t want to be on You Tube.
