Success, to me, means doing something meaningful and getting some combination of spiritual, social and financial reward in return. Craig Newmark, Craiglist *
Can you be beautiful, smart, creative, spiritual, a super tech, a business owner, world traveler, seminar leader, a blogger, a speaker, a radio host, a mother, a wife – all at the same time?
Nah. Probably not.
Meet Michelle Vandepas, who is all those things. I could add a few more – like a loyal and generous friend –
Some of you who are reading this have known Michelle for years. Help me out here and add to the list. I have only known her for two years. But I count her as one of my best friends.
We met on a forum. I was a new blogger and way out of my pay grade as a techie. (I thought at that time if I could download a file and cut and paste I was all set. Wrong)
I had really gotten lost in the mystery of WordPress. I asked some really stupid question everyone should know and she felt sorry for me and contacted me.
She went into my blog and fixed it FOR FREE.
Now, she doesn’t usually work for free but that is just evidence of what a kind person she is.
Michelle just did the complete makeover of my blog. Now, it wasn’t that bad to start out – just kind of blah. Have you noticed? She really cranked it up. I am thrilled.
So I decided, as a big thank you, to do a sales page here for her.
You can pay THOUSANDS to set up a blog or a do over. She is very reasonable and I thought, as a public service to you, you should know about her. She’s been doing this for a long time – writing “code” in the 80′s before there was an Internet.
To start with – if you just need to fix something you cannot figure out yourself, she charges only $35.00 for a 15 minute ‘quick fix’ or $125. an hour to get you out of your mess. She’s quick. Ask for an estimate.
Here are her other services:

When I started working with my business partner, Michelle, I didn’t even know what a blog was. Now, I surprise her with what she taught me. This website I put up in about an hour. Sure, she still had to do a few things for me but guess what? I did most of it! And I’m in awe of what I know and how I can even write a little code–and understand what I’m doing.
I’m so impressed with “how” she teaches–never making me feel like I ‘should’ know, or that I’m stupid… that I have referred her to several of my coaching colleagues. Everyone I’ve referred to her is VERY happy!

Hi CK -
I remember it well. When you started, you kept saying you were not a blogger!
But Michelle had her way with you. Look at you now! She teaches without your knowing what is happening. Even me – who is not at all a techie call on her less and less (She may not agree with this) because she taught me some things.
A webpage is something I would never attempt. I cannot tell you how thrilled I am with my new makeover.
When she first made it live – and I saw it – I could not sleep I was so excited.
Congratulations on your webpage. We’ll be watching you.
Michelle is fortunate to have you as a friend! I, too, am fortunate to have you as a friend as are we all whose lives you touch. You are “involved in Mankind….the bell tolls for thee”, and you answer the call! Thank you!
Dear Michelle -
SURPRISE!
Michelle, see what happens when you go on vacation? Surprises when you come back. Shameless people like me go on your site, copy your rates and make a new article.
You deserve every word of this.
There was another thing I could have mentioned. You do teaching in a local venue for a small fee. But you mentioned once that if someone wanted to attend and they did not have money – you just let them come in free.
There are lot of people who do web design. Not many with heart like you.
I LOVE THE MAKEOVER YOU DID ON MY BLOG.
Corinne
I’ve been hiking and canoeing in the Black Hills.. I ought to go on vacation more often if I come back to suprises like this one!
WOW!!!
Thank you Corinne. Now I owe YOU …:)
Love you dear friend.

Corinne,
This is a great surprise for Michelle! And when I get stuck, I know who to call.
I know when I first started with WordPress, I felt lost. It took me months to learn what I needed to do on my own. I wish I had had someone to call then. It’s one of the many reasons I took Blog Mastermind, just to have access to the forum for tech help.
On a scale of apprentice, journeyman, and master; I would be a first year journeyman. I took a ton of computer science in college but nobody uses Fortran and Cobol anymore, or cards and card readers either (showing my age here). I also didn’t end up in computer science so I haven’t used any of it.
I’ve figured my way through enough WordPress that I can do most of what I need, but I can only write small snippets of code and I don’t mess with themes because I will mess them up. I have very little clue how to write in Javascript, CSS and PHP, though I can do a little HTML. I mostly just comment out what I want to go away.
I set up local businesses with the basic internet marketing places they should be for a small fee, whether they have a website or not (Google Local, Twitter, Facebook, etc.).
I also set up some basic blogs for local businesses (mostly friends and acquaintances), but I stick to just setting up hosting, install WP, add a generic list of plugins, set up an email and RSS subscription box, set a home page if they don’t want it to be their blog, and run them through the WP admin panel. I either do basic maintenance for a monthly fee or send out reminders so those who want to can do it themselves. But that’s all I do.
So thanks, Corinne, for letting us all know about Michelle’s skills. When it gets more advanced than basic, I need someone to call, and I’ll be calling Michelle! So will my clients.

Thanks, Sherri -
WOW you are way above me.
You will like Michelle when you need to use her.
I don’t know how to do most of the stuff you do. I rely on Michelle because I am inclined to make messes. And don’t ask me about plugins.
But she did teach me how to put up a picture and add a link. I consider that major!

It’s kind of like changing the oil in my car. I know how to do it. I’m capable of doing it. But I don’t want to do it, so I hire it out.
With my blogs, I’m probably capable of studying more and learning what I don’t know, but I’d rather spend my time doing other things. The only reason I picked up as much as I have is I plunked around until I messed things up and couldn’t fix them without help. So that’s where I stopped. I still pick things up, but only by accident.
There was a time when I didn’t know how to add pictures or insert links. Learning that was major for me at the time. The improvements in the new versions of WP have helped me learn to do other things. And Cpanel got a lot easier over the last year. It’s a lot more graphical so I can do more with it.
Sometimes I think I use the technical stuff to play with when I’m procrastinating on post or report writing. It needs to be done, but I should be writing some of the time I’m geeking out.

Sherri – the best advice I got from our guru, Yaro, was to do what you are good at and let other people do the rest.
Let me off the hook.
We are writers. Not techies. And you have so much knowledge to contribute.
I agree. Hire it out.
It’s a surprise for me too.
What I knew is that Michelle as a life coach. I didn’t know that she’s a techie as well, with lots of knowledge in SEO and social media. I’ve really lost touch with you for quite some time.
Congratz for both of you.. Corinne for the brand new design. I like it much much more, and Michelle for the line of products you have launched. It’s amazing!
All the best!

Hi Sherri, I started just like you learning about plugins and wordpress. I’d been struggling through it, but I’m tenacious so I finally buckled down and learned a bit of CSS and PHP. Mostly I’ve had to learn enough to run all my businesses and blogsites, and in the process started a whole new business doing websites, blogs and teaching for others!
I sure understand that comment about using the techy stuff as a way to avoid writing. Boy. I relate to that!
Robert,
I’ve been out of touch but thank you for coming over and commenting! I’m not even a life coach, but I am an Entrepreneur, and coach others on Conscious Livelihood and entrepreneurship, involved with all that comes internet marketing, social media and blogging. Most of all, its a blast.

I met Michelle at a blogging conference, SOBCon08 in Chicago. With her vibrant personality and because she is so down-to-earth we hit it off immediately, so I had no idea she was a techie genius too.
Well now I know who to call when my good blog ~ goes bad.
I thank her for her always being there when I needed to talk, for letting me bounce my ideas of her and getting great feedback, and because she gives great bear reports on twitter. j/k
I also thank her for introducing me to Corrine briefly this year at SOBCon09 and for introducing me to her partner CK who is also fabulous!
What a great idea Corrine, this is inspiring me to do something nice for someone special in my life.
