I have mentioned a few times in my blog that I have been a Life Coach for about fifteen years. Several people have contacted me to ask what a life coach really does. Here is a brief summation.
What is life coaching?
Coaching is a service providing you with feedback, insights, and guidance.
Even Tiger Woods understands the importance of a good coach. These mentors work with and develop your natural strengths and authentic power.
Life coaching is similar – except it is based on the probability that you have your own answers but sometimes need the support of an outside point of view to organize and crystallize them.
Life coaching is built on evaluating present conditions, exploring alternatives and taking action. It is usually short term so it is not expensive and is not traditional therapy. It is more like having your own personal cheerleader. It can be done in person or on the telephone. I have had clients from all over the country.
Why a life coach?
You may hire a coach when you are:
Adjusting to a major break-up
Feeling dissatisfied
Making a career transition
Starting a new or expanding a business
Re-evaluating life choices
- or simply looking for personal and professional breakthroughs.
Benefits include:
Eliminating procrastination
Reclaiming your personal power
Identifying effective and focused action
Creating momentum and consistency
Becoming more balanced and fulfilled
One of my clients said it was like having a paid friend who has no agenda for your decisions and can look at things with you from a detached point of view.

Thanks for your comment, Reed.
I think a lot of people do not know the difference between a life coach and a therapist!

Thank you BFF for the insight on life coaching and since this is the path that I’m re-inventing my wheel through – a special THANK YOU!
Great article and to the point – I love the way you say, “it’s like having your own personal cheerleader”… with that said, then I have been a life coach for many years and just didn’t know it!
Love to you my BFF,
Nancy
