DR. DEEPAK CHOPRA – A different view on the election

by Corinne on September 11, 2008

I met Dr. Deepak Chopra before he was a household word.

I had listened to one of his audio tapes and heard he was coming into Chicago as part of a group of speakers in a workshop. He was not well known at the time but I thought his ideas would make him an interesting guest on my new TV show on Chicago Access.

Can you imagine? I called Dr. Chopra at his house! (Don’t try that today!)

He said he was going to be speaking at the Hyatt Hotel and if I came there with a camera, he would agree to be interviewed. We convinced the Hyatt to give us a free room for the interview if we opened with a shot of the hotel. It was a one camera operation!

It went well as you can imagine since by now, you have seen Dr. Chopra on every show imaginable when they feature experts on spirituality.

He is a person who is an international treasure, so when I saw that he had a new blog and had written a brilliant article on the forthcoming election, I could not resist sharing it with you.

This is a completely different view than we hear anywhere from the pundits.

It is worth your reading time.

Dr. Chopra also has a new blog – You might want to make a note of it!

Here is a PS -

I also got several opportunites to interview Dr. Chopra when he was famous.  Look here for a clip of an interview with him.  My show had gone national by then!

Amazing! I am so jealous that you were up close with him. I saw him speak here in Honolulu, and he’s so inspirational.

This is a copy of a blog I wrote on my MySpace page. It refers to a video interview by Matt Damon on the prospect of Sarah Palin assuming the “presidency.” You can see the video on You Tube.

Matt Damon is right: If Sarah (Moose-olini) is staunch in her belief that dinosaurs did not exist until 4,000 years ago and she would like to ban books in our libraries, woe be the entire state of the world in the (most likely) 1 in 3 chance that McSame would not survive his first term in office and this Cariboo Barbie became “president.” Mr. McSame, you did a disservice to the country you claim to put first by selecting this fascist neocon whack-job as your running-babe. To whose end will it serve when she holds the keys to the nuclear codes and she has to speak in tongues in order to talk with Vladimir Putin?

God save us.

This is the video. If the link does not work, cut and paste into your browser.

We need to be many voices crying out for the future of our country. Thanks to Dr Chopra and people like Corinne and Matt Damon, I hold out hope that the right thing will happen for America.

Thanks Michelle -

And also for the information, Penelope! That was quite a video!

Any comments on Penelope’s posting here?

as usual Corinne, this is awesome!!! I guess you’re always going to impress the hell out of me. I’m impressed that you got that video clip in there, which incidentally, had a very special message for me today. There were a few comments in there that spoke very specifically to something I was struggling with today. So there you go, after all this time, God is still using you as a vessel to carry a message. Thanks, I needed that!

Corinne, I remember those shoots with Dr. Chopra! I had so much fun being a part of your team! I like how Chopra points out the opposite personalities of each party. I find it interesting that the universe has balanced this race. We’ll see come the debates. Until then, Country First!

Dear Gail – also known as “Her Gailiness!”

Glad you got a special message. You never know where it is going to come from!

God is using me without my particular knowledge of it. So, that’s OK with me.

Oh my dear Linda!

How I miss those days too!

You were more than “just a part” of the show. You were the best floor director in the country – keeping us on time – telllng us when we were almost out of time to seconds – not to mention that your gorgeous self added a glamourous element.

We did 400 shows without a retake. No editing afterwards. We just got in there and did it!

You were very responsible for that achievement. Most TV shows are heavily edited afterwards!

Corinne,

This is quite the story … imagine meeting Deepak Chopra before he was big and being to call him at home.

WOW! That’s priceless!

I’d be more impressed if Deepak analysed the shadow of his own side of politics.

(Just for the record I’m of the green-left persuasion and so much prefer Obama to the loonies.)

My name is Eric Wester, and I am writing to you from wikiHow. wikiHow is a website that provides users with information on how to do various things. I am writing an article on how to begin writing a book, and I would like to use a portion of one of your books as a guide to show users how to start a book. The portion that I would like to use is as follows:

This is about women. Single women who are also perhaps mothers, friends, credit card jugglers, car-poolers, entrepreneurs, lovers, workers, gardeners, even grandmothers. In short-a person trying to be everything to everybody and still have a life.

We would provide proper attribution to you, and your book and provide links to where users can purchase your books. Would this be alright with you?

Please email me at eric[at]wikiHow[dot].com

Dear Evan -

I am sure many take issue with Dr. Chopra’s views!

At least you are not for the “loonies!”

I am also rooting for Obama. It would be nice to have a super intelligent person watching the store – not to mention the market!

Dear Miss Gisele B – and Raymond -

I have found that the bigger the star, the more approachable and dedicated.

I have met many in my TV career – too numerous to even mention.

See my “Hire Corinne” for some details at the side of my blog.

And there are some video clips in this article.

God is not a limited individual who sits alone up in the clouds on a golden throne. God is pure Consciousness that dwells within everything. Understanding this truth, learn to accept and love everyone equally.
