BIRTHDAY CARD FROM HEAVEN

Birthday heaven1 300x229 BIRTHDAY CARD FROM HEAVEN

The birthday greeting was late.  It was dated 2007.

You probably have a mysterious, thick “MISC” file like I do.

It contains a mix of stuff you wanted to save but didn’t know what to do with so you threw it in there.

Yesterday, which was my birthday, I was searching for an old receipt when my hand happened on a small card.

It was from my best friend, Arlene, who died two years ago.

The card is above.

When she was dying, she used to tell me she would always be with me.  No evidence until yesterday.

Coincidence?  Maybe.

But since I found it on my birthday, I prefer to consider it a message from her.

She is still holding my hand.  What a wonderful birthday gift.

What do you think?

Arlene wanted it to be a very special birthday for you. She loved you…and still does.

She is still holding your hand, Corinne. Absolutely no doubt about it. No doubt about it. I do have a book for you to read: “The Shack” by Wm. Paul Young. Please do read it if, indeed, you haven’t already.

Happy Birthday from Boise, Idaho where my husband and I are visiting our daughter and her family. My heart sends you tons of love on your birthday. I know that Arlene is doing the same. Our best friends do that for us, especially when they know that we may need an extra something to make it through the day. We are taking my daughter, son-in-law and their 4 children ages 3, 5, 7 and 9 out for a special birthday dinner for our daughter whose 32nd birthday is Sat., Sept. 12 and our son-in-law whose 32nd birthday is on Sept. 17 tonight.

Dear Sondra and Bob and Reed -

So glad that you are willing to acknowledge that such an amazing thing has happened.

I was totally shocked when I read that card.

Would have been anyway – but the fact it was the morning of my actual birthday was a great surprise and so important to me.

Reed – looked up the book. Looks great. On my list.

My dear Patricia -

How wonderful and loving that you took time out of your vacation to comment and wish me birthday greetings.

Thank you!

Sound like you are having a great – and busy time.

(-and that you may need a vacation when you come home!)

Dear Corinne. I did remember that the 6th was your birthday, but could
not muster up the strength to send you a greeting. It’s so nice to be
remembered but so distressing ro add another year! Belated greetings anyway. When I got up today I realized it’s another anniversary for
Ground Zero. So I thought I’d put my poem about that here, if you
would permit me. It’s two years old.

GROUND ZERO 2007
********************

It looks so different today.
All signs of carnage are gone.
The Towers brought to the ground.
The destroyed bodies swept away.
Flowers bloom by the walkway.
Eddies of wind carry their scent
Across the river.

Though not visible,
The victims are still here.
They are the dust beneath our feet.
We breathe them in.
We walk on their blood.
We trod on the cells of our loved ones.

And if I bend to a purple hyacinth
Will I not find my lover there?

Dear Louise -

Your poetry is so beautiful. I hope you are keeping them all in one place for your family and the world.

It is always welcome and cherished here.

I know you are not quite up to it but someday – you should publish them all. And keep writing even if your eyes are not too strong.

Sending love to you, Louise.

Dear Patsy -

It was such a wonderful treat to spend time with you this past month. It had been years.

You are still so beautiful. You must tell us all your secrets.

Dear Corinne, Speaking of coincidental things that seem to not be
coincidental, I had a dream about you….we were both disguised as
young ladies, and were dating two young men. We revealed ourselves
finally as what we really were…and then the young men took off their
disguises to reveal themselves as “older” men….later that day I was
going through some pictures and came across one taken in Sparkill
of you with the kitten on your shoulder…Gardenia. You used to
spray her with Gardenia Toilet Water….and then call out very
loudly into the night: “Gar-DEEN-ia!!! I bet you remember that!
It brings a smile to my face. Love, Weeze

Corinne,

What a great birthday present! Arlene is still with you and always will be. All those we have lost are not really gone. They have little ways of reminding us of them just when we need it.

I’ve never believed in coincidences, except when chaos theory applies. That’s when everything is way out of whack. Coincidences happen, but they don’t make sense.

I know you had a great birthday. Love,
Sherri
