ARLENE’S “NEW BEST FRIEND” – Angel or coincidence?

by Corinne on April 12, 2008

I’ve had the same cleaning person for years. Christine comes in twice a month for three hours and I stay out of her way because she is a whirlwind!

After all those years, she knows the complete cast of characters in my life.

Last week, I was ducking her vacuum cleaner when she asked, “How is Arlene?”

My friend Arlene has been very ill. But it is difficult to help her in many ways because she is so fiercely independent.

“Let me write those checks for you.”

“I’ll make that call for you.”

”I’ll warm up some soup for you.”

The answer was always –

“I can do it.” Or, “I’ll get to it.”

Well, she wasn’t getting to it and it was apparent that she needed some full time help around to assist her. She was very weak. She wasn’t eating. Not taking her medication on time. But, she resisted.

Christina said her niece, Cathie, who is a night student in a university, was looking for a job during the day. The school was very close to Arlene’s home.

And then – the lightening bolt – Cathie had done an internship as part of her education in Hospice for a year!

Excuses from Arlene – but after some convincing from me (and her niece Janis) she agreed to see Cathie for a half hour.

It was a connection at first sight. Cathie is there helping her every day now.  This beautiful young woman took charge.

She called me to say, “My aunt told me Arlene was a lovely person but I love her!”

As usual, Arlene has made a “New Best Friend.” No one is surprised. That’s what she does. There is an indefinable magic about Arlene.

The moral to the story. Answers to prayers and angels do not always come from the direction you expect.

The angel could be you. It could be your cleaning woman.

We have to pay attention.

Check back and take a look at the original article I wrote about Arlene. The comments from far and wide are worth the visit. Just click here.

What a beautiful story. Arlene seems to draw in the people who can love her instantly.. and it seems they come to her because of the love she puts out first. I’m pleased she is getting help. What a comfort to you as well, that she is getting the nourishment she needs.

(On a side note. I have not found a cleaning woman I like. I had someone in yesterday who charged me $80.00 to clean two bathrooms and she didn’t even hang up the towels. GEEZ This could be post – how to magnetize the perfect household help! )

Yes, Arlene is a terrific draw – I can guarantee that she knows Cathie’s entire life story and is already looking for a “match” for her!

Yesterday, she asked me, “What about your son, Paul?” As ill as she is, she is still on the job.

Listen, Michelle, if you are paying that kind of money to clean two bathrooms, I am going to apply for the position.

(You are not concentrating hard enough on your manifesting skills for some cleaning help! Get to work!)

It seems Corinne, that you too, always know the right thing to do and say at the right time , and perhaps that is a good part of the ‘Divine Intervention’ Whatever, this beautiful person,’Kasia”, is my name for her,(her Polish name and my heritage :) ) is PERFECT….and if you noticed Arlene is already trying to make ther “shidach” for her!!

Lovely and happy story. Magical appearance of an “angel”.

I have the world’s best houskeeper- I never call her cleaning lady. I call her my “little mommy”. She came to me about 7 years ago and had no connections for any other work. As of today, she is totally booked with all of my friends and connections.
We all have our “gifts” lying around but oftentimes take them for granted …. I don’t. My Christine is such a valuable part of my life and I – hers. There is such love and gratitude between us. I think you should do a blog on all the people who “work” for us – making our lives a joy. The person at the bank, grocery store, mail person, UPS guy, the waitress who takes such good care of you – of course the blessed bartender of your favorite restaurant, your cat, your dog, your plants. Even my fish. Funny, just realized they are all Angelfish but they do brighten a corner of my office and I see many guests just sitting a taking a peace moment.
We all are aware of our spouses, children, siblings, bosses, etc. but what about all the people who seem to play a more minor role in our lives. The little touches of “love” that we receive all day long. I just love the attendant at my train station. I was able to get a summer job for her son and after he graduated, he got the marketing job that he wanted. We hug everytime I see her. Anyone else have anyone they want to bring up? There are so many. And I am so happy for Arlene and Corinne – to have this miracle Cathie at this time. Love and light to all.

Dear Grace -

I don’t have to write an article about all the people who “work” for us -

BECAUSE YOU JUST DID!

Thanks for remininding us of all the wonderful people who come into our lives.

Remember always, that you are also one of our “touches of love!”

I hired my cleaning woman 2 months before my husband died. She has been my angel. She loves my children, is willing to watch them, has two teen-age sons that she’ll bring with her when they don’t have school because she knows my son needs that and can’t do enough for us. Could it really be a coincidence that she showed up at that point in my life?

Dear Mags -

Without the first two – your mother and your cousin, I would not be included in the “angels”

I will always thank God for them!
