Corinne, your books help people like me to remember the things that we have "seen" all of our lives but have otherwise would never have "known" about them until you pointed them out to me. What you said with respect to your husband also sounds like me in that while I read the books, people ask me or tell me whether or not I'm improving. All I can say to them is that if I manage to make a mistake in life, even if I know I'm making it, at least I have a better chance of correcting it before it becomes impossible to manage. There is a saying somewhere to the effect of "to see is to believe" or "you don't know what you know until you KNOW it". I think that's where the experience solidifies it in your mind. So while books will not protect us from the evils in the world entirely, they'll at least shield us to some degree so that we might "deflect" the worst that life has to offer and hopefully pass that wisdom on to the next generations like you are doing with me so that we might keep it alive.

Thanks Corinne :)

I’d be inclined to okay with you on this. Which is not something I usually do! I enjoy reading a post that will make people think. Also, thanks for allowing me to speak my mind!

Your book arrived last week and I thank you. I laughed out loud (especially about shopping in NYC) and will pass the word on to many.

I will send you the column I submit to South Africa.

Cheers,

Thanks Corinne for sharing your gifts.

I lost my husband 2 months ago. We would have reached our 40th wedding anniversary on May 16. I love him so much, and miss him. I cry every night. He battled with cancer for many years. He was doing good. We have many projects now dangling which I don't know how to continue without him. He died not of his cancer but of heart failure. We only have 3 children all boys. They live far away from us, altho checks on me as often as they can. I cry, I pray and will join a support group for grieving widows. I pray I can 'put my life together' without him it is going to be sooo difficult, but with faith in the grace of God undeserving as i am, it will happen for nothing is impossible with God. Yet, it seems easy to say, than practice what I say. I am trying to get up even just to honor my husband's memory that he did not marry a weakling. I want to tell him that I am honored he chose me for his wife, in the same way that he wrote to me a long time ago when we first met and found each other so in love, that i was the best thing that happened to his life.

Thanks for being there.
Best regards, Yoli

You have much to be proud of, Corinne. Your interests are diverse, your talents many. I happen to belive your greatesty treasure is your wisdo and ability to reach out to others. In your “essay” about worring, I could not find your usual invitation to respond. So I will here. You share some excellent advice on how to ease the “worry pain” You are absolutely right. Worry is product of FEAR! A positive attitute is an excellent tonic to ease FEAR. Also try to not to think about yourself , rather think about others and how you can make a difference in another’s life….just like YOU do. I’d be will ing to bet a fortune that YOU, Corinne are not plagued by worry. Yes I would!
