THE PERFECT MAN - Where are you?
I had dinner last night,
with three women,
all experts at dissecting a species,
not quite human,
called men.
Lawyers, we said,
they’re the worst.
Run you down. Read you like a brief.
Just want to win the case.
Doctors.
Cheap.
Completely void of feelings.
No wonder. Those patients die.
Blue collar. Professors.
Too poor.
Real estate, salesmen of any kind.
No stable salary.
Who wants to support these guys?
The corporate variety. The techies.
All the same.
Put them in a bottle. Shake them up.
You pour out clones. Dull.
Workaholics of any persuasion.
Money, but no time.
Terrible in bed.
We all agreed on one thing.
We were looking for a man.
someone Not Intimidated By Our Success.
someone Deep.
someone Who Can Communicate.
someone Perfect.
No human types need apply.
I love this poem. It is so perfect and so true! My single women friends and I get together and our conversation sounds just like this poem.
All of us are successful women in our own right with very rich lives. We all have married friends who always ask us….. “Why are you still single?” or “Why are you not seeing someone?”
How is it that attractive accomplished women don’t seem to be able to find that “perfect man”?
Dear Joni -
Are all your friends who are asking happily married? Maybe they just want to have company in their misery.
Most of the people who are asking are probably envying your wonderful, free lifestyle!
Even if they are happy most of the time, they are pretty tied down! And they think you have it made!
