People are always surprised when I tell them I have made real friends through this blog.
Important and real connections. Not just here – but on the phone – on Skype – Emails -
Most I have never met in person.
One of my “buds” is Cheryl Ragsdale.
She is a very funny lady who became a fighter – after a long corporate career. And she’s good.
Yahoo started a new blog called Second Act featuring people who reinvent themselves later in their lives. They “discovered” Cheryl a few months ago.
And as usual, Cheryl became best friends forever with the producer – who asked her -

Long story short. I was featured this week.

It’s a wonderful video and story, and it’s great that you made the connection. I’ve made so many wonderful friends online, despite moving to a new country and working from home, I still feel connected to people and involved, albeit in a very small way, with their lives.

It was something I never expected when I started this blog. I now feel as though I know all of you on a personal level.
And now even more so with out TTHG. That is really fun.
Michael Smith was very pleased that his video was passed around all over the country.
One of the wardens who used it in New York is now the head of the highest known prison in the country. I should ask him if he still uses it. It is probably the most useful to the young gangbangers though.
I am grateful to Cheryl who made the connetion.

Thank you for sharing this Corinne and Cheryl. You 2 are great and it is wonderful meeting new people on the internet.
One thing that I really appreciate about it, it is about helping each other, rather than worrying about who me be getting ahead of you or be better than you.
I have found in you Corinne and many others that they are real people and honest and good. I could keep going, but I don’t want anyone to have to remodel there house to make the door ways bigger. LOl
Anyway thank you Corinne and Cheryl and all you beautiful people out there for being just you.

Dear Nancy – my BFF -
The WOW is that I got into Cook County Jail with a camera. Everyone from the mayors office to the warden turned me down. They thought I was crazy to ask and especially to interview such a notorious inmate who was waiting trial.
What I did is GIVE UP and give it over to the Universe. The moment I did that I got a call I could come in.
I should do that more. We all should. What do you think?

Congratulations! The Yahoo article is great and I’m so happy you made it. Thanks to Cheryl for getting you there!
Cheryl’s video is so amazing. She makes me want to go back and continue my martial arts training. I could definitely use the exercise.
But your video series with Michael was so moving. Right now, I’m doing what I can to help stop the closing of the Catherine Ferguson Academy for Young Women in Detroit, the school for pregnant teens and teen moms. Your example is making me realize that I can do more to help teen parents. Even though teen parenting is very hard (heck, parenting is hard), it should not mean a girl is doomed to no education and no future for her and her children.
It’s time this country takes an active role to end the teen pregnancy, gang, institutionalized racism and poverty, and do what needs to be done to make the real difference in these kids’ lives.
There will always be an economic spectrum, but no one who is poor should be uneducated, underfed, have to live in a ghetto, or do without health care. No matter what your income, a person should always have dignity and self-worth.
This whole set of articles and videos has me in tears and asking myself what I can start doing now.

I think the greatest benefit may be that the gang interview I did several years ago got new exposure. It had been lying dormant in my archives.
I don’t know about traffic. But it certainly won’t do me any harm. It is just starting to show up in Analytics. It takes a while to show any true results.
What we do is put things out there. You never know what will happen with them.
A couple of years ago, I wrote a post called “When Your Husband Has Died – A Survival Guide.” I didn’t expect much of it. I was pretty new at the time.
It has over 2000 widows on it now and climbing every day. They all help each other. I consider it my miracle.
You never know where your words will go.
